Imaging your Collections for Access, Preservation, Management, and Learning
Our story begins in 1990 when Andy and Audrey Fenton, together with Nan and John Pert, launched their microfilming services, aiming to capture and preserve Aotearoa New Zealand’s local and national history. The strong partnerships formed with libraries and museums, ensured valuable resources were safeguarded for future generations.
Today, NZMS provides a wide range of services including digitisation, consultancy, microfilm, equipment, fine art printing, and community engagement software. We have branches in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, and Ōtautahi Christchurch, serving clients nationwide. While many of our clients are often GLAMIR sector organisations (galleries, libraries, archives, museums, iwi, records) we also work with central and local government, universities, schools, clubs and societies, commercial enterprises, artists, and private individuals.
Our team of knowledgeable industry experts take a collaborative approach, prioritising the needs of our client and their unique collections

Strategic Partners

The Preserving Local History and Educational Trust
Our primary goal is to preserve Aotearoa New Zealand’s cultural heritage and taonga. We believe our mahi can provide lasting benefits for communities and help advance education, while ultimately supporting the views and expectations of tangata whenua.
The introduction of the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories in our school curriculum means that free and easy access to heritage resources, like community newspapers, is essential. Much of Aotearoa’s history is documented in local community newspapers. They contain so much rich content about everyday New Zealanders: revealing the people, places, events, organisations, businesses, societies, iwi, and hapu that make up a village, small town, rohe, or region.
